Evidence of abnormal posturing

When jimmy was discovered, his body was abnormally stiff.

When Jimmy was discovered, his eyelids were stiff and could not be closed.

Jimmy's eyes were stuck because the eyelids didn't close, no matter how many times I tried to close them, and I couldn't close them.

Why did that rigidity occur immediately after the discovery? I didn't understand what it meant.
